The Competition
The 2023 BEST competition is called “Incision Decision” with a theme of robotics surgery. Teams build robots capable of completing delicate surgical tasks on a simulated field such as brain biopsy, ablation, heart bypass, vein procedures, stints and more.
About Our Team
Our team continues to evolve as our seniors graduate and new members join! However, we continually build a great team spirit of people who work in their area of giftings from 6th grade to 12th grade. Our team is comprised of homeschoolers as well as open to small Christian schools in the area
HUB
HUB competition was held in Denton at Guyer High School on November 7. The gym was less full this year with fewer teams competing, but the competition was still intense. Many public and private schools show what their robot looked like, what it could do and the skill of the drivers.
We earned many awards including spirit awards, presentation and exhibit and won Best Overall by a tenth of a point. It was the closest scores they report seeing.
Regionals
Fair Park was invaded by robotics teams from New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas on December 1st and 2nd. It was a fun year as we advanced to the finals in the mascot dance off, a first ever for our team! Our spirit team was strong despite a curious turn of events in the finals.
We advanced to the semifinals, but a scoring error tipped scales where a few teams, including ours, did not make it into the finals. However, we continued to cheer the others who competed and had quite an amazing shock when it was announced that we won 1st Place Best overall in our division!
