About Us

About the Team

T.H.E. BEST robotics is a robotics team in the Texoma area (in and around Grayson County).  T.H.E stands for “Texoma Home Educators.”  Our team is open to area homeschoolers and Christian schools.

Students must be 6th – 12th grade to participate (at least 11 years old by Sept 1).  5th graders (10 years old by Sept 1) may participate on the Spirit team.

We have been competing since 1998 and claimed 1st place BEST award from 2003-2010 and several years since.  Our team remains very successful, staying very competitive even at the regional competition from 2014-2024.  We compete in the BEST(Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) organization, currently in the CoCo Best hub.

If you live in or near Grayson County and are homeschooled or go to a Christian school, we’d love to have you on the team!

There are multiple ways to participate on the team.  All students can contribute to robot design, and many are needed to help build robot parts and prototypes.

Spirit team members design props, learn cheers, and lead cheers on game day. We also have a mascot costume!

The exhibit team makes an informative exhibit booth and takes interviews on game day. They gather and display information related to that year’s competition.

The presentation team presents the robot to judges as if they are customers. Each member writes and memorizes their part of the presentation.

The T-shirt team designs the T-shirt for the entire team. All students will wear the shirt on game day.

Each year, our team writes an engineering notebook and a research paper. They must also write about the robot design process, our strategy, and more.

Some students maintain the website and our social media presences.

Programming team members program the robot. We usually use Simulink, a product of MathWorks, for our programming.

Finally, we need some students to drive the robot on game day. These students need to be well versed in the competition rules, and must participate in more than just driving the robot.

There’s no direct cost to be on the team.  Each student is expected to participate in team fundraisers, which include activities (such as carwash, bake sale, etc.) and solicit sponsorships/donations from area businesses.
