The BEST robotics game for 2025 is called “Factoids”. The theme of this year’s game is to discern the difference between truth and almost truth .

The “Factoids” game challenges teams to use their robots to sort through facts and determine what is true or false. This theme is also explored through the companion bESTology educational curriculum, which focuses on the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence and sorting valid information from misinformation. In the game, our robot must collect “Factoids”, which are practice golf balls, and discern truth from false. The true Factoids have ferrous material in them, while the false ones have salt. We must also create a data connection out of foam tiles that have tape diagonally on them. There also are PVC pipes in the center of the field that are also Factoids, some true, some false. There is a tower in the very middle of the field that has five true Factoids on it.
